Adventure to Guatemala

My niece, Emma, arrived today in Guatemala City.  She'll spend the Thanksgiving break working with an organization that helps dump pickers— the families that survive by scavenging in the city dump.  For a country girl living in Maine, this will be an incredible experience.  Hopefully she will learn (as I wish all Americans would) how absolutely privileged we are in comparison with the vast majority of the world.

Emma is a vegetarian, so even eating will present challenges.  Reports her mom: "She ate grilled veggies in vinegar today.  Adventurous for her!!!"
