Speaking of Happy Utahns...

(Cedar Breaks National Monument, Iron County, Utah)
Utah is the happiest state in the union, and Cedar City Mayor Gerald Sherrat believes Iron County may be the best place to live:
Where a medium soft drink in the local movie theaters costs $3.25 (in Las Vegas... [it] costs $5). Where a gallon of gasoline can run 30 cents cheaper than it does at thje big gas stations in Fillmore and Scipio. Where you can attend a Division I basketball game at about a third the price of what... [it] runs in Salt lake City or Provo. Where you can attend seven world class concerts for less than you'd pay for one concert in places like New York City or San Francsico. Where the cost of living... is 8 percent less than the national average, food costs are 4 percent less, utilities 18% less, and housing 10% less." (Cedar Community Update, November 2009, 4)
I love Iron County, too— but I can't help but note that our county's median household income is $33,114— 35% less than the state's median income, and 34% less than the median for the nation. So the cost savings are great, if you live at the upper end of the income scale...
