Using The Global Economy

A reader writes:

The albuterol inhaler that my insurance co. charges $35 for is manufactured in Ireland. I ordered my albuterol from a Canadian company (@$6 per inhaler) that was mailed from Assam having been manufactured in Goa. The Indian retail price that was stamped on the inhaler said "not to exceed Rs. 90, including tax." This equals $2.47, and everybody is a winner. Profits for business and fair price for me.

U.S. drug companies may say that's not fair— but if they can shift production from country to country to lower prices, we should surely be able to switch suppliers.

I can't answer this with certainty, since this was a reader who wrote in to me.  But from what he says, it sounds like he already had a scrip-- he just had it filled through an alternate source.
