Yet One More Downside to Ethanol Fuel

Stanford University Engineer Mark Jacobs says ethanol isn't green in terms of air pollution.  His computer model, according to AP, suggests that ethanol creates more smog than gasoline.

"Nearly 200 more people would die yearly from respiratory problems if all vehicles in the United States ran on a mostly ethanol fuel blend by 2020..."

Ethanol could also create more ozone in some locations, notably Los Angeles and the Northeast.  But:

"Most of those projected 200 deaths would be in Los Angeles... "

At least that's good news to those of us who've escaped from LA.
