My Chicken Tractor

We built our first chicken tractor, a portable pen that allows chickens to graze on natural foods.  This assists in turning weeds into fertilizer.  We'll use it for isolating problem chickens, especially roosters, which can be a bit rambunctious and cause damage to the hens as they do their duty.  We don't like isolating them; they have much more room to run in the chicken yard.  But sometimes we have to.

Ironically, a chicken held in such a thing can be considered "free range," because it grazes on grass, even though it is still caged.  Several agricultural sites indicate that in the U.S., most "free range" chickens are raised this way.  Go figure.
